Friday

26th August

Raining since yesterday evening it is now almost noon Friday. Raindrops are hanging like glass beads from the solar light cables and wisteria stems outside my office window. The oly sounds, the fountain in the fish pond and the steady drip of the rain.
It's not exactly cold - I'm sitting with the window open, but my arms and feet are chilly. Thinking if I was a woman sitting by the window in my solar back in the 12th century - I'd be Ok as long as I had long sleeves and maybe boots or woollen stockings. This evening will be cold and damp though.

I went out to feed the fish and got wet - not so much from the rain, but the rain dripping from the wisteria!

Several of my plants in pots are puffing and doing the breast stroke! Tipped the excess of water from most of the pots, but can't do anything about the soggy sol. I reckon I'm going to lose all those that don't like wet feet
The lawn - such as it is - is just mud where we walk to the chicken run. (How many times have I nagged Ron to put same paving down? Sigh).

Wednesday

24th August

Damp feel outside, and everything is perfectly still. There is nothing moving outside my window, no cloud, leaf, bird .... its like looking out at a 3D painting!

Tuesday

August 23rd

Started raining yesterday evening - only a drizzle, but got heavier during the night. Now steady rain.
Getting a bit chilly too - or is that because my dear husband has left the back door open again?

Sunday

Sunday 20th

Quite warm but its one of those half and half days. The sky is bright but overcast with cloud.
Had a cup of tea in the garden. Its more like Autumn out though. All the berries, sloes etc are almost ripe, the trees are starting to turn - damp evenings, and its getting dark by about 7.30.
Where did summer go?

August 21st Sunday

Catch Up:

Saturday 20th lovely morning. Sat outside for breakfast - even got a bit hot. By mid afternoon.... pouring with rain! Cleared up by nightfall though. Sky was lovely at 11p.m. lots of whispy clouds galloping across the sky.

Friday 19th sunny -  even (dare I say?) hot! Turned the heating off again

Thursday 18th Cold. Really cold. I sat working with a fur rug round me in the early evening - gave up and put the central heating on.

Wednesday 17th  Can't remember if it was Wednesday or Thursday in the afternoon - but it absolutely poured. It was like someone in the sky had turned a hose on full. The patio was flooded under about an inch of water. I got soaked through running out to shut the hens away - and noticed a plant in a pot was drowning, desperately in need of a lifeboat. It was on the patio table under where the guttering has come away, so the rain there was cascading like a waterfall. Waiting for the landlord to come fix it. (the gutter!)

Tuesday 16th - lovely in the morning, but got quite grey by mid afternoon
