Thursday

Another gorgeous day - blue skies, warm sun and some new flowers poking their heads skywards. Moved my pot plants to catch the sun and found a hitch-hiker in the form of a Praying Mantid.

  1. I usually have one or two resident Praying Mantis in my garden every summer! Fascinating creatures!

  2. I love them - their little alien heads peering at you. Little did I know that this ferocious female had just despatched her mate. I found him on his elbows, missing an antenna and within 5 minutes he was a goner. The female of the species...*laughs*

  3. Perhaps we need a special insect photos day of entries! I have several photos of my Praying Mantis pets. I have watched one devour a bee before - but never a mate!

  4. Good idea! I find the ants fascinating, especially at the moment as they are filling their nests before battening down the hatches. Not sure my photography skills are up to it though!
